Strengthening Supervision.
Strengthening Practice.
What does “good” supervision actually look like in behaviour support practice?
Supervision is widely recognised as not only as a requirement—but as an essential element of practice. Yet expectations, experiences, and approaches can vary significantly, especially for practitioners entering the workforce.
Supervision shapes how practitioners reflect, navigate complexity, and develop confidence in real-world decision-making.
Our panel will explore:
- what supervision is—and what it is not, including definitions, purposes, and structure
- why supervision is critical to good practice, including ethics, risk, and practitioner support
- what effective supervision looks like in practice, including expectations, approaches, and outcomes
This webinar is relevant for behaviour support practitioners at all stages of practice, as well as organisations supporting supervision and professional development. It may be particularly useful for practitioners seeking greater clarity around what supervision should provide in practice.
BSPA continues to advocate for supervision as a central component of capability and quality behaviour support practice.
The webinar will also respond to a growing need for clearer guidance for supervisees, particularly where supervision arrangements are determined within organisational settings.
This session will also introduce BSPA’s emerging work in this area, including the upcoming What to Look for in a Supervisor resource as a component of the Supervisor Directory.
